Lately, our Yelp page has been abuzz with five-star reviews for one person… Cody Lane. His name is synonymous with great service at Ironstone Vineyards.

Just who is this Cody Lane?

He just happens to be our Tasting Room Manager and mastermind behind the new Elevated Experiences. A Calaveras County native, Cody has long been fascinated by wine. He began with “makeshift winemaking,” fermenting grapes in small bins. His passion would lead him to the Napa/Sonoma region, where he worked at such renowned wineries as Chateau Montelena (Bottle Shock, anyone?), Benzinger, and Imagery. Eventually, he returned to his Calaveras County roots and has worked at Ironstone since 2018. 

Lately, Cody has been delighting guests on the Elevated Experience tour. The Experience begins with a glass of Reserve Sparkling in our Tasting Room, followed by a tour of the vineyard and ending with a seated tasting in our wine caverns.  Guests can expect to taste the creme de la creme of our lineup, paired with select cheeses and small bites courtesy of our in-house Chef.

Q & A with Cody Lane:
What do you love most about hosting the Elevated Experiences? 

Meeting all the new people who are genuinely interested in how we do things at Ironstone.  I love the entire process of winemaking, from the viticulture to enology. This allows me to share that passion and tie it into the artistic result that ends up in the bottle for everyone to enjoy.

Many times, our white wines are harvested during the middle of the night with headlamps to ensure the chemistry of the grapes upon harvesting is just right!

Harvested from 107-year-old vineyards, the Reserve Rous Ancient Vine Zinfandel is must try wine from the tour.


What is your favorite Elevated Experience food and wine pairing? 

Without a doubt, the recent pairing our chefs created with Reserve Rous Ancient Vine Zinfandel and house-made chocolate truffles.

What do you love most about working at Ironstone Vineyards?

Working with a team that cares about the experience that is provided to each and every guest on a daily basis.  Being around the Tasting Room staff gives me energy and positivity every day!

Name a wine you are most likely to enjoy on a Friday night? 

That depends on what I am doing, where I am, and what I am eating!  Mid-summer you will find me outdoors with a crisp Chardonnay, while November has me in-doors enjoying a Steak and Meritage Blend.
